Pelly® Research and Development – where creativity meets innovation and technology.
To develop the ideas and concepts of future storage solutions, courage, knowledge, and innovation are required. Two of the visionary minds driving the R&D work at Pelly are Jekaterina Potapova and Morgan Grahn. Read about their thoughts and work on development and innovation.
Jekaterina Potapova has worked as an industrial designer at Pelly since 2016, primarily focusing on our wall-mounted storage solutions and sliding doors.
“We consider functionality, ergonomics, and environmental aspects, working on the shape, implementing the form language, selecting materials, specifying colors and surfaces, and evaluating product application and integration into the home environment. It is also important to consider our range consistency to help customers achieve a complete user experience.”
“I feel happy seeing people enjoying using our products!”
Everything is a collaboration to develop the most optimal solutions – from all perspectives.
She highlights the importance of being observant in daily life to uncover insights and opportunities. Researching user behavior, products on the market, customer needs, and global trends, as well as conducting workshops with other departments to gain a broader understanding from different perspectives. Everything that helps to discover the uniqueness of the company, identify needs and various scenarios, create mood boards, and set a vision for the future.
“Working closely with engineers helps achieve functionally smart and manufacturing-optimized results. It is an intriguing moment when you get the final prototype, model, or first produced product samples! Here, we pay attention even to the details like surface quality, correct color tone, and emotional aspect. I feel happy seeing people enjoy using our products!”
Morgan Grahn is the R&D and Sales Director, responsible for all development and product changes in our component range, as well as for our OEM business.
“We strive for simplicity in our engineering, but it’s the simple things that are the hardest to make cost-effective. This is where our expertise in developing products for high industrial volumes comes in handy.”
“Be competitive or don’t survive!”
The strength lies in developing carbon steel-based products in combination with mixed materials such as metal with particleboard and plastic parts. We develop our products according to customer requirements and forecasts. “If we miss these targets, we will not be competitive and will ultimately lose the business.”
Morgan believes that striving to develop products together with our customers leads to better product specifications and needs, and more competitive products – which ultimately results in higher volumes per product.
“Be competitive or don’t survive! Our products must be well-thought-out and designed early to be the best for our entire value chain. That is the key to our success.”
To reduce project time, the use of our own prototype shop and testing facility is crucial for us. We create prototypes and conduct durability and load tests as early as possible in our projects to ensure we meet all set expectations and requirements.
